About YU-SAI-SHO-GA
For me, calligraphy is a way of self-discovery, of knowing myself better.
As move my writing over the paper , I can find myself from the monochrome
traces.
It’s not my aim to express something with a brush, but to become aware of
something in myself from writing. This pecu-liar self-absorption exists in the
calligraphy world. In my thought, my calligraphy works contain images of
my
town, its nature and people I have live with all my life.
And they express my wishes, hopes and yearning. I am loving and treasuring
these my histories and wishes through my work.
In Japan calligraphy is a formal art and the form, the correct way of doing
something and politeness are supposed to be highly valued.
How-ever I don’t care much about them, because I have never been a pupil
to a master. My self-taught calligraphy values being me, as I am, as I
feel and
as I do, and I call it 「遊彩書画」(yu-sai-sho-ga).
「遊」(yu) means “with fun”. As the writer does it with fun, you can see it with
fun. Please feel free to enjoy it.
If you can read something similar to you in my works, I will be delighted
with
that as a calligrapher, because it means we can communicate with each other.
Although we are from different environments and cultures, I am excited
that I
can relate to you.
